This letter describes an f.m. drive for transmitters operating at medium frequencies. The drive uses digital techniques, giving a centre frequency that is highly stable but still allows frequency modulation, is linear and has a high modulation index. It was developed initially for the BBC's motoring service proposal (CARFAX).
