A 20-channel micro-optic grating demultiplexer with a single-mode input fibre has been developed for 1.1¿1.6 ¿m band using a newly developed graded-index (Selfoc) rod lens with a small focusing parameter and an Si-etched reflection grating. Insertion losses were 1.9 to 3.5 dB. Isolation between adjacent channels was less than ¿20 dB.
