The 20 and 30 GHz transmissions from the ATS-6 satellite were used to calibrate radiometers operating at these frequencies. The slant-path attenuation predicted from radio-metric measurements shows good agreement with that measured directly, for values up to 9 dB at 20 GHz (maximum recorded) and up to at least 13 dB at 30 GHz within uncertainty limits of ±1·0 dB.
