The author synthesizes the evolution of his own scientific activity toward some emerging technologies, along a path that has received notable benefit from the support provided by the IEEE electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) society during the last 20 years. The globalization of industrial processes requires a strong commitment of the EMC community toward the development and the exploitation of new technologies. This paper is a contribution to this thesis.
