The transmission characteristics of 30 MHz analogue colour t.v. signals are investigated using a semiconductor laser diode at the 1.3 ¿m wavelength. Transmission over 17 km with 40.3 dB unweighted s.n.r. is confirmed, and transmission over 30 km is feasible using a 1.3 ¿m laser diode and low-loss single-mode fibres.
