A careful analysis of a classical filter configuration with large stopbands is made. An understanding of the structure behaviour is gained that allows design on safe grounds. A 1.3 GHz microstrip prototype using parallel-coupled-lines inverters is presented. Design equations for this type of inverter are also given.
