There are many means in reducing the active power loss of distribution network; two important methods are feeder reconfiguration and capacitor placement. Genetic Algorithm chosen to solve the network reconfiguration problem and capacitor placement problem, respectively. These two means are combined together as better effect of loss reduction can be achieved than witch ever one method used alone. The accuracy of presented methods have been examined using an standard distribution network and results are presented in this paper
