Two binary encoding schemes which lead to bandwidth and power saving are proposed. The binary source is encoded into digrams, which then undergo certain restrictions prior to transmission. Resultant ambiguity at the decoder is avoided by predictive feedback at the encoder. The specific examples proposed belong to a wide class of such adaptive encoding schemes.
