This paper focusses on the specific requirements when designing electronic circuits that need to be implanted. These additional requirements are miniaturisation and power consumption. The paper will show how microelectronics and MEMS technology can lead lead to low power, stand alone data monitoring and analysis systems. The need for dedicated sensors is highlighted as well, and it is explained what type of sensors are preferred.
