Estimating the positions of sensor nodes is a crucial task in many wireless sensor network (WSN) applications. On the ZigBee compatible sensor nodes we have developed, received signal strength indication (RSSI) is adopted as a coarse but simple method of distance estimation. Based on ROCRSSI, we propose a hybrid approach, ring overlapping based on hybrid access of RSSI (ROHA) in this paper. Simulation results show that, by utilizing ROHA, better location accuracy and node distribution robustness are achieved
