Network coding is a new concept to realize efficient transmission in multimedia communication network. The basic idea is that intermediate nodes in a network are allowed not only to perform routing but also to encourage certain functions on its received data. In this paper, we present a new transmission diversity scheme which employs network coding to provide energy efficient multimedia transmission in wireless mobile ad hoc network. Specifically, the network equipped with the new scheme can provide the same symbol error rate (SER) in physical layer, whereas the total energy consumption of transmission is decreased by diversity transmission with network coding.
