In this paper, we present an approach to predict the performance of J2EE applications in early stage of development process. We analyse major performance factors in the interaction process of distributed components, focus on the effect of remote invocation and container activities, and modeling system behavior using PEPA nets. The approach is based on the performance model and benchmarking.
