In homodyne network analyzer systems the most important errors are caused by an inadequate suppression of the image sideband. A procedure is described which determines the complex magnitude of the image sideband via calibration measurements and eliminates the corresponding image errors. The presented method can be used for the design of compact broadband network analyzers. Additionally a new microwave integrated circuit for a broadband single sideband generator is presented.
