The magnetic air gap radial force waves in a three-phase induction motor excited with a nonsinusoidal supply from a solid-state converter are investigated analytically, taking into account the interaction between the flux density waves due to the harmonic currents. A simple method for the prediction of the frequencies and origins of the magnetic force components paused by the harmonic currents is presented. Analytical results are substantiated by noise tests.
