The addition of conventional power factor improvement capacitors to large power plant electrical distribution systems is considered. Pertinent observations and benefits are presented based on a study conducted for a central power plant unit. A review of capacitor installation characteristics is included for general information. Recommendations for considering capacitor additions are made.
