To verify the validity of certain computer algorithms and to check the sensitivity of the results to the necessary precision of the modelling, precalculated results have been compared with those, obtained in the field, during real tests on a 300 MW-turbogenerator. The report reflects some of the main results obtained through this comparison and analyses some of the observed phenomena (e.g. the spectra of alternator input mechanical and output electrical power) leading e. g. to the identification of the predominant role of the post-incident electrodynamic damping studied afterwards in the companion paper[2].
