A model is developed for the statistics of success and failure of data acquisition in a load management system-using distribution power-line carrier for two-way communication. The model explains the statistical dependence between the results of successive tries in a multiple-try process, and provides an insight into the causes for changes in the statistical results observed in an ongoing process.
