A simple and efficient theoretical model within the framework of infinitesimal theory of beam has been developed to optimally design the geometry of the fiber holding microclips with the prescribed clamping force and end displacement for fixing an optical fiber in a V-groove. The effect of the beam thickness and material property on the optimal section has been studied. It has been demonstrated that geometry obtained by the optimal model leads to minimal structure weight
