An analysis of angular error variance due to thermal noise in pulsed conical-scan radars is presented. The noise power spectra in an openloop tracking system are derived, followed by angle variance calculation in the closd loop. Assumption of large signal-to-noise ratios enables linear modeling of the closed loop. The analysis includes range gating effects as well.
