In this paper is presented the implementation results of an intelligent sensor in an ultra-low-power consumption device. Intelligence is added to the sensor by using an artificial neural network (ANN) for integrating self-calibration and diagnostic capability. A goal of this work has been to explore the performance of the MSP430 microcontroller for implementing ANNs. This work is part of a project where a smart wireless system is developed for condition monitoring.
