In this paper, an improved laminating varactor-loaded tunable notch filter (TNF) was proposed, which adopted only one split ring resonator (SRR) as the resonance unit. This filter operates at S band and can be tuned by the control voltage on the varactor. Comparing to the former reported coplanar SRR TNF (I. Gil et al., 2004), the laminating structure is more compact and its stopband bandwidth is much narrower
