Version management of CSCD is supposed to support the whole design progress and store all versions produced in the process to be available for request. Two difference storage models are proposed based on analysis and study on full storage and difference storage patterns in terms of version information. Full storage has characteristics of fast storage and access speed but with shortcomings such as huge occupied storage space and much redundant information, while difference storage has features of less storage space but with shortcomings such as slow access speed and less security. In connection of features of full storage and difference storage, the term version storage threshold is proposed and constructed, and balance is fulfilled between space efficiency and time efficiency to ensure the security of system by combination of difference storage and full storage with STEP data exchange standard. Through a case of one version model, the principles and process of calculation are expounded finally
