In their paper `Analysis of cellular structure by light scattering measurements in a new cytometer design based on a liquid-core waveguide', K. Singh et al. (see ibid., vol. 151, p.10, 2004) presented their microfluidic optical cytometer and their measurements for the light pattern scattered from biological cells over a wide range of angles. In this comment, it is pointed out that what they measured is an image of a biological cell, not the scattered light pattern of the biological cell
