An approach for the automatic generation of Petri net models for a particular class of manufacturing systems is described. Our tool, starting from a system description in terms of precedence-relation graphs, is able to build Petri net models which can be subject of subsequent analysis and simulation. The paper particularly focuses on the definition of the manufacturing system model and on the procedures for the automatic generation of the Petri net
