A novel simulator concept based on channel orthogonalization techniques in two inner product spaces is presented and compared with the traditional approach of modeling each Rayleigh or Rice fading multipath ray individually. The new simulator, being applicable to systems employing linear modulation formats, allows channels having quasi-continuous or truly continuous delay profiles with many densely spaced rays to be represented at a significantly reduced computational complexity. The new simulation concept leads to the lowest level of complexity being achieved for the prevailing channel and noise characteristics on a particular channel
