We propose a parallel distributed sample scrambling method for frame synchronous scrambler for the cell-based ATM physical layer. The speed problem encountered with the serial frame synchronization method can be resolved effectively in our approach. The proposed scrambler and descrambler are implemented by using a state equation which describes the relation between state vectors of shift registers as well as the close relation between sampling time and state transition vector
