Current technologies in K-12 education

Robert Taylor's well-known The Computer in the Classroom: Tutor, Tool, Tutee reviewed uses of technology in K-12 schools in the early 1980s. Taylor's suggestions included use of the computer as a tutor (computer-assisted instruction), a tool (such as word processing and telecomputing), and as a "tutee", in which the child learns by teaching the computer (popularized by the K-12 computing language, Logo). K-12 computing in the 1990s still encompasses each of these uses. However, advances in technology have changed the state of the art in several respects, such as multimedia capability, network access, and ubiquity.<
