Introduction of a new laboratory course: Computer Aided Electronic Circuit Design-Simulation

Based on his experiences with laboratory courses at Shinsyu University and at the Joetsu University of Education, the author believes that the introduction of a new laboratory course, 'Computer Aided Electronic Circuit Design-Simulation', into the curriculum for upper-class undergraduates of the Electronic Engineering Department provides a deeper understanding of the foundations of electronics. This course is planned so as to consist of two hours of lectures and two hours of laboratory work per week for one semester. The seven lesson topics are as follows: computer-aided electronic-circuit design; analyses of linear networks; analyses of nonlinear DC networks; transient analyses of dynamic networks; modeling of the bipolar junction transistor; modeling of the MOS transistor; and guidance in SPICE 2 usage.<
