A detailed computer simulation, using an IBM standard software package, has been run to determine the optimal configuration of the Aleph data acquisition system, to select the read-out and communication protocols inside the system and to spot possible sources of dead-locks. Results will be presented, which proved to be non-trivial and essential to the project. Such, or equivalent approaches are mandatory in the design phase of the DAQ systems at the next-coming large accelerators
