The mutual coupling between two electromagnetically coupled three-layer circular microstrip antennas has been investigated experimentally. Results reported are on both E-plane and H-plane coupling values for two different configurations (normal and inverted) of the stacked three-layer circular patch structures in S-band. Experiments indicate that the three-layer structures are equally competitive in array applications
