There are currently several commercially available integrated controllers capable of driving two transistors in PWM dc-dc power converters. The outputs of the chip are two PWM signals a that are 180° out of phase with an option to control the dead time between the transitions of the outputs. These chips require separate capacitors and resistors to produce this dead time. This paper shows the design, development, and simulation results of a CMOS chip that can be programmed to produce variable dead times using digital inputs
