In this paper, communication aspects of Remote Procedure Calls (RPC) technique for parallel, distributed computation are discussed. To investigate these aspects, algorithm for backward/forward solution of linear systems that are normally encountered in power systems analysis is implemented on a cluster of workstations. Three scheduling techniques are discussed and their effects on communications and execution speed are analyzed
