Presents a modification of the fourth-order cumulant matrix Cg proposed by one source. The modification consists of taking certain submatrices of Cg and using them to apply the ESPRIT principle with general arrays which may not be composed of matched sensor doublets, or to perform spatial smoothing to deal with the coherent sources in the cumulant domain. Computer simulations are carried out to illustrate the effectiveness of the modified cumulant matrix
