Very low-power integrated acoustically tunable filters operating in the first telecommunication window have been fabricated and investigated using overlapping optical and acoustical stripe guides. Nearly 100% TE-TM polarisation conversion efficiency was achieved with only 0.5 mW RF drive power in a 0.8 μm filter of 0.25 nm optical bandwidth. Both data are the best reported to-date for such filters. In addition, a novel, easy to fabricate polariser with extremely low insertion loss (<0.1 dB) has been developed and incorporated
