This paper describes the design development of software to support the design-cycle of computer aided control engineering in a multi-user, large-project environment. This software is designed to provide the advantages of a centralized database and assisted version control to the management and administration of large model-based projects whilst reducing the burden of extra bookkeeping tasks on the control engineer. The research has also attempted to take into account the wider, and ultimately very important issues of open architectures. Work has concentrated on investigating initiatives based on the object-oriented paradigm.
