Presents a novel approach for calculating the packet capture probability in the case of Reed Solomon coded frequency-hopped packet radio networks. In contrast to previous work, the authors focus on a special packet construction method, where several code symbols might be conveyed by the same hopping frequency. They consider both random as well as deterministic hopping patterns, they also consider both slotted and unslotted Aloha multiple-access protocols. Two different criterion for symbol erasures are introduced. Joint probability generating functions of the effective multiple-access interference are determined for the different cases, and a general closed form expression for calculating packet capture probability is given
