This paper presents a distributed development environment for switching system software. To cope with increasing software size and number of developers, we adopt a widely distributed location and group-structured development style. To support this style, we construct a software development environment with workstations (WSs) and a WAN, which contains a network-type data storage and information control system. These support selected information distribution and group work coordination. Experiments show that this environment reduces the cost and time of development
