Highly efficient, 1 megahertz magnetic amplifier requires low cost, nonsquare loop material

Utilizing a pedestal voltage input, flux preset scheme, low cost linear ferrite material can be used successfully in low loss magnetic amplifiers operating in the megahertz region. This results in simplified and rugged main or auxiliary outputs on high frequency power supplies. The scheme presented in this paper overcomes self-starting problems and transfers power efficiently over the entire on-time of the power switch.<
