The design and modeling of multirate control systems, in particular for disk drive applications, have been presented. It includes explicit expressions for the plant, estimator and controller. The effect of the delay in the control action is included. The multirate digital control system was modeled as a MIMO single rate system. It is important to investigate responses from all the inputs even though a particular response may be more important. The model can be used as a tool to study the behaviour of multirate digital control systems. Finally, implementation aspects for a disk drive application were also discussed
