In this paper, we propose a multidatabase system, named Heterogeneous Information System (HIS), which facilitates the sharing of data without any impact on the autonomous database systems. We show how individual database systems will retain their autonomy in spite of mutual information sharing. Dynamic handling of user requests on multiple database systems with high security and the utilities for the user to handle the global data are the key features of the proposed system. We discuss some special functional components and language constructs which can be easily incorporated in the existing systems to achieve these goats
