The authors describe a new type of photomultiplier tube (PMT) with fine mesh (FM) dynodes which have exceptional performance in time response and linearity with high gain even under magnetic fields. The PMTs are available not only as a conventional single-anode but also as multi-anode read-outs with very low cross-talk. These FM PMTs show promise as detectors of scintillation and Cerenkov light
