A new simultaneous two-way transmission method at the same bit rate using light intensity modulation for both transmission directions without a light source in the subscriber terminal is described and analysed. A system, using an electro-optic modulator/reflector in the subscriber terminal side, was successfully tested up to 27 Mbit/s
