An integrated diagnostics system engineering process was utilized to develop an effective diagnostic/health monitoring system which meets user's needs. Weighing results from reliability, maintainability, and system safety trade studies, a comprehensive aircraft diagnostic/health monitoring system was defined which decreases aircraft turnaround time and increases safety while minimally impacting system reliability. The approach of considering reliability, maintainability, and system safety requirements as the customer's requirements in a quality function deployment (QFD) analysis can be employed in the design and development of other products which require the amalgamation of complicated and conflicting design requirements
