Analyzing training system requirements centers around determination of human functional responsibilities necessary for satisfactory job performance. It consists of two major steps: developing the task inventory (identifying the tasks which make up a job) and analyzing the task (identifying the skills and knowledges needed to perform the job). Task analysis involves collecting, identifying, listing, and grouping detailed information of on-the-job requirements in terms of individual tasks and their characteristics. The Training System Requirements Analysis (TRSA) for the Air Force Primary Aircraft Training System (AFPATS) Ground Base Training System (GBTS) employs the Instructional System Development (ISD) process. The second step in the ISD process is to conduct a Training Requirements Analysis (TRA). This paper describes the TRA approach to using task analysis in developing the AFPATS GBTS
