The authors consider the problem of tracking several targets in terms of the directions of arrival (DOA) of signals using uniform linear sensor array outputs. The observations in any short interval of time around a given time point τ enable them to estimate the DOA of the targets but not identify the target to which each estimate corresponds. They propose an algorithm to set up such a correspondence between estimates and targets at each time point in a sequential manner starting from an initial position of the targets. Once this is done, the trajectories of the different targets can be obtained by plotting the estimates against time
