Comparisons of models for aperture coupling to a wire

Models for calculating aperture coupling to a thin wire behind a perforated conducting screen are compared. The models differ in levels of sophistication ranging from simple transmission line formalism to computer-intensive numerical codes. Calculations with a single transmission line model are in fair agreement with the two more sophisticated numerical models at nonresonant configurations and frequencies. However, for resonant frequencies, the transmission line model currents are two to three orders of magnitude larger than those calculated with the numerical models. This is shown to result from the dependence of the transmission line calculation on the attenuation coefficient for the model.<
