An analysis procedure for a hybrid magnet in an experimental levitation system is proposed. First, a two-dimensional analysis of the hybrid magnet is performed. Though the vector potential A method is often adopted to solve magnetic problems, the magnetic field intensity H method is proposed. Second, using the sequential quadratic programming method, an attempt is made to optimize the arrangement of permanent magnets which have the maximum guidance force. Finally, the responses of the experimental magnet levitation system are investigated by means of simulations
