A user interface system is proposed for the non-computer-professional using a previously developed electronic dictionary system. A model that uniformly represents all the dictionary's information is also proposed. Based on this model, a user interface system is proposed for the electronic dictionary, called the dictionary interface system (DIS). The users are offered a visual environment for using various dictionaries by the DIS, and do not need to know any programming languages. To obtain required information from the various dictionaries only the function offered by the system is necessary
