Anode spot plasma torch

With acetone as a catalyst in an argon discharge plasma, it is observed that localized high-density anode spots can be formed at sharp edges in the plasma. By placing the sharp edge on top of a small permanent magnet, the current which is attracted to the spot can locally burn a piece of metal beneath the sharp edge. It is believed that the practical significance of these results may have wide implications for plasma processing or plasma burning applications.<
