A technique for reducing the number of inversions in the time-domain decoding algorithm based on an algebraic decoder (Blahut's decoder) is introduced. It is proved that the modified algorithm is equivalent to the original one. The modified algorithm can be used in the universal Reed-Solomon decoder to decrease complexity
